Lot: 5 Chinese Song/Ming Dynasty Glazed Porcelain Bowls
Description: Lot: 5 Chinese Porcelain Bowls, Song (960-1279)/Ming (1368-1644) Dynasty. The lot consists of five miscellaneous bowls, two dating from the Song dynasty and three dating from the Ming dynasty. The Song bowls are both covered in green celadon glaze, although one bowl only has degraded glaze remnants remaining, leaving almost an entirely biscuit ware. The second bowl remains unglazed at the interior center and the base foot. The largest of the Ming bowls is almost entirely covered in a smooth pale grey glaze, apart from the base and a ring at the interior center that remain unglazed. The remaining two Ming wares are both decorated at the interiors with radiating linear designs set against a light brown crackled-glaze. Dimensions: Song bowls (each) 5.5in. Diameter, 2.5in. High. Ming bowls: 1) 10in. Diameter, 2.25in. High. 2) 8.5in. Diameter, 2in. High. 3) 10in. Diameter, 2in. High. Total weight: 7lbs. Condition: One Song bowl has sinificant wear to the entire surface, leaving on degraded glaze remnants throughout, as well as significant chipping along the interior lip-rim. The second Song bowl also has wear to its glazed surface with one minor circular chip in the glaze, .125in. diameter, located at the interior cavetto. The largest Ming bowl has one small circular chip in its glaze, .125in. diameter, located at the interior lip-rim. The remaining two Ming bowls both have wear to their glaze, with the larger of the two also having numerous minor chips long its lip-rim. All five wears have glaze imperfections and light scratches throughout the surfaces. Otherwise, the pieces are in good condition.
