LORD ELGIN 50 MILLION ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION 21 JEWELS GRADE 670 HOODED HINGED LUGS 18k GOLD Circa: 1951. Extremely rare. The highest Grade Elgin wristwatch produced. The Hallmark of American production and the industral revolution of the 19th Century. This limited edition was especially produced to celebrate the 50th million watch produced by the Elgin Watch Co. since 1868. Elgin began production just after the Civil War in Elgin, Illinois as the NATIONAL WATCH Co. In 1873 the Company incorporated as the Elgin National Watch Co. and went on to produce a total of 50 million watches by 1951. This watch was produced to celebrate that accomplishment. Limited production of 1000, of which this is No. 205. This surviving example is in superb original used condition and is especially collectible.
