Description:
What a fabulous solid walnut Victorian Renaissance Revival dining table. The 48" round top expands to 10'7". There is a large 19" leaf, which does not appear to be original and has a slightly different profile or edge. We can easily arrange to have the leaf recut to match and also make 1-3 additional leaves to take advantage of the banquet size. Another option is to cut plywood leaves, cover with a tablecloth and no one would be the wiser! The ornate table skirt has applied burled walnut panels and intricate incised carvings along the bottom edge. The pedestal base is designed to come apart and hide a turned center leg. The split pedestal design provides great support when expanding the table to its greater size. The table is extremely sturdy with no breaks or repair. The stretcher system opens and closes smoothly. The table base is dynamic. There are 4 beautifully carved roaring lion heads - complete with mane and teeth. The boldly carved legs end in carved lion paw feet. Notice the large carved roundels on each side of the legs and the 4 applied burled walnut panels between. The table rests on its original casters. The finish is in excellent condition having a rich color and patina. It's not often we get a small Victorian dining table of this caliber.
