Description: Pair of primitive style still life oil paintings. The paintings are oil on board. One as you can see is a crockery jug with two lemons, a slice of lemon and some sugar cubes – and it is signed M E Hannaford 09. It is professionally framed in a simple carved wood gilded antique style frame. The condition is very good on this one having only on the top in the right hand corner a little bit of paint lost. The site size measures 18” x 11” and overall it measures 13 3/8” x 20 ¼”. The second still life is of a brown jug with three apples and a pairing knife with half an apple. The condition is very good - it has a bit of paint lost or cracking on the top left hand corner and a little bit on the lower left and right hand corner. Now I am not sure if this is damage or if this is where the painting ends. This one is also signed M E Hannaford 1910 - again in the same frame – in very good condition. The site size measures 18” x 12 ½” and overall it measures 14 5/8” x 20 3/8”. It is hard to find a fabulous still life – I’m not sure of this but I have a suspicion that M E Hannaford could quite possible be a Maine artist – I have not done any research on this pair of paintings but they are from an Islesboro, Maine estate.
