Description: This leather bound diary embossed in gold "My Trip Abroad" with original pencil is marked on an inside label: H.M.Brewer & Co./Stationers Since 1855/New York. Although it has never been used there is a written inscription on the first page, A Token Of My Love For You Janet Roell 2/22/28. On the second page under the ocean liner picture it says Copyright 1914 by Kiggins & Tooker Co. Then again on the Going Page she writes Date Feb 23-28/S.S. Banker/Line American Merchant Lines.
The American Banker was a 7,430 ton vessel built in 1919 at Hog Island that was refitted to carry passengers in the New York - London service. It began service in 1924 under American Merchant Line until 1931.
With gold edge pages this diary contains beautiful color graphics of Funnels and House Flags of Principal Atlantic Lines, Pilot Flags and National Flags. It also conatins pages full of seagoing information such as Foretelling The Weather with an Aneroid Barometer/Distances at Which Objects are Visible at Sea at Varying Elevations/Latitude and Longitude from Greenwich/Value of Foreign Coins/Mail Time and Distances from New York City/Difference in Time/Watch as a Compass/The Mariners Compass/Variation and Deviation of the Compass and so much more. It has a section for names and addresses and on the inside back cover there is a Map of the World. In very good condition it does have a small tear in the opening page and again on the back page of the world map and scuff marks on the front and back cover and it measures 6 1/2 inches high, 4 1/4 inches wide and 3/4 inch deep. A great addition to any Collection of Ocean Liner Memorabilia.
SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have questions feel free to contact me and thank you for looking.
