Description:
Late eighteenth to early nineteenth century Scottish mahogany tallcase clock of diminutive size signed Glumsden, Pittenweem. Pittenweem is a small fishing village on the east coast of Scotland. The dial of this clock is an exceptionally well-painted example featuring ships and fishing motifs. The case with its barley twist columns in the bonnet and matching half twist columns in the waist leaves you with a well-proportioned and fine clock. The waist door is of solid mahogany with beautiful crotching and blown out. The movement is eight day time and strike, striking the hours on a cast bell and is original in all respects and in fine working order. Dimensions: 88" in height, 19" in width at the base, 9 1/4" in depth at the base.
