Description:
Large Weller Pottery Art Nouveau Jardinier &
Pedestal
Ivory - circa 1905.
A fabulous Weller jardiniere and pedestal
with a beautiful Art Nouveau design on four
sides. Pictured in the Weller book as "Ivory"
the colour is ivory with a brown stain in
throughout the grooves to hightlight the
design.
Both pieces are in fantastic condition for their
age (and weight - both pieces are of
considerable weight).
The base has 4 spots of damage (all pictured
on last 4 photos) - all in the same area on 4
sides - I think that this was a spot where a
vacuum would over time bang into it. The
damage is rather minimal. The rest of the
pedestal and jardiniere are perfect. There is
normal crazing throughout.
The set was designed by Rudolph
Lorber (born in Austria and worked at Weller
from 1905-1930's) - well recognized for his
ceramic designs.
Impressed mark on bottom of Jardiniere -
WELLER.
Total measurement of both pieces : 35 1/2
inches high x 19 inches wide
Jardeniere measures: 16.5 inches high x 19
inches wide
Stand Measures: 19 inches high x 16 inches
wide
Excellent condition - no repairs - 4 chips to
base as noted above - Everything else in
fantastic condition.
