Description: This deeply carved brooch could be mistaken for Bakelite at first glance, but in actuality is some sort of lightweight wood, painted black. The lady's features are also hand-painted. She is adorned with a large turban and long earring and is studded with pave'-set rhinestones, all still in place. (One or two may be replacements.) Her impressive measurements are 3 1/4" x 1 3/4" at her widest point. I would "guesstimate" she is c. the 1940s, and she is basically in terrific vintage condition. The only age-appropriate wear, really, is a bit of chipping to the black paint, this being mainly around the sides. Therefore, when brooch is worn, this barely, if at all, visible.
