Description: This hard to find large Range Size Hugging Bendel Love Bug salt and pepper shaker set was designed by Ruth Van Tellingen Bendel, she also a well know illustrator of children books in the 40's. She designed a whole series of different hugging animals and people for the Regal China Company of Antioch, Illinois. The interlocking sets were designed in such a way that they could be picked up together in one hand and used without fear of dropping them. The Love Bug are a great maroon and cream color with black accents. The size is 4.75 inches tall and 3.25 inches wide and long. The tail has the imprinted © Bendel Love Bug and the bottom has Pat. No 2560755 54-185A and the other 158B. This means the set was made after 1951 when the marking changed from Pat Pending to the actual number. No damage at all, appears pristine. One stopper is inside the body and other is in correct position.. Some color variations, skips all done in hand painting and manufacturing normal to the line. This large size is rare and a really hard to find. I will be adding a second set of the small size Bendel Love Bug shakers.
