Description: Unusual and exceptional large bubbled glass match striker with a horizontal ribbed stripe in the middle. Original sterling rim and well are clearly hallmarked Birmingham 1930. Subtle Art Deco influence. As the name suggests, loose matches would be stored in the inverted well, and then individually struck across the ribbing on the glass, producing friction, and t by flame.
