Description:
This impressive chest measures 50” by 20” by 28” high, and is in excellent condition. It is clean as a whistle both inside and out, and has great, warm color, and an older, but not original, finish. The hardware is original. One interesting feature of this chest is that the maker, master craftsman that he must have been, used half-blind dovetails at each corner. (A half-blind dovetail hides the dovetail from the front and back of the chest, exposing itself [sorry] only on the ends of the chest.) These dovetails are more difficult and fussier to make than the more-often-seen standard dovetails, and are not often employed except on drawers. If you are in the Florida - Georgia area, there is a good possibility of delivery either free, or at a reduced rate, as we travel in that area frequently. Please don’t hesitate to request additional information or more detailed pictures. Both are readily available. ALSO, please don’t fail to check the other items we are offering. On the left side of this page, under the photo, please click “View Dealer’s Other Items” to scan our offerings of 1775 - 1900 antique American furniture, ship and pond models, other nautical items, rare tools and usually some other pretty good stuff.
