Description: A really super and larger than normal repousse or embossed string box with an exquisite Art Nouveau design. The stylised central panel is made up from a panel of dragonflies and tulips and flanked top and bottom with an attractive border. The lid pull off to reveal the chamber where plenty of string or twine would be stored for use in the kitchen, office or today, perhaps the gift wrapping room. Solid, heavy and in excellent condition, this box dates to around 1890, late Victorian in period. Excellent condition, measuring 4" with a base diameter of 3 3/4".
