Otto Grashof , born in Prezlau Brandergurg in 1812 at the beginning of the 19th century, was a student of Wilhmen Shadow in Dusseldorf , The Dusseldorf Art Academy in Early Nineteenth Century Prussia was Between Tradition and Modernity.
Specialized in Portrait and Genre painting, but he really loved landscapes.
In 1850 , following the style of Alexander Von Humbolt decided to travel to South America to paint the exotic landscapes of the new world,as Humbolt did . ( !!!! what a decision in 1850 !!! )
Travelled during 7 years through Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile , leaving an important work , now considered historic documents and came back to Prussia in 1857. We found this excellent painting , measuring 41 inches wide x 31 inches Tall , in South America ( Uruguay), documenting a town in 1852 . It is in very good conditions and features a quality gilt Frame, This Artist reached at Sothebys N.Y. (Jun 99 lot 14 ) $80.000 for a similar quality and size work, and we really believe this is a wonderful opportunity to get a valuable piece for a very affordable price, and a very good investment too !!
