Description:
Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. Among collectors of fine art glass, few names stand higher than that of Rene Lalique, the great French artisan. During the first third of this century, his workshops turned out such superior work that Lalique became synonymous with fine art glass throughout the world. Today, Lalique Glass is avidly collected. At a recent auction, a Lalique Art Deco figure of a cougar brought $39,000 - the highest price paid to date for Art Deco Glass. For the scholar or collector interested in Lalique, there is one indispensible reference, one tool he must have: the complete 1932 catalogue, which illustrates over 1500 objects, comprising a one-of-a-kind gallery of Art Nouveau and Art Deco motifs. Vase, Cups, plates, boxes, mirrors, ashtrays, flacons, toilet sets, paperweights, clocks, decanters, jewelry and many other items - even decorative radiator caps! -- display an enormous range of design ideas and sophisticated craftmanship. In addition, the catalog provides a design number and measurement in millimeters for each object, while a price list (in 1932 French francs) gives prices -- for clear of colored glass. Despite its importance to collectors, the catalogue has been all but unavailable until now; only four copies are known to exist in the United States. With the publication of this inexpensive Dover edition, an exact replica of an original, this rare and valuable document is now accessible to scholars, collectors, students, admirers of Art Nouveau and Art Deco -- anyone interested in the ultimate in decorative glass. This edition has been reroduced directly from a copy in the possesion of the Corning Museum of Glass. Unadbridged republication of the original (1932) edition, titles Catalogue des Verreries de Rene Lalique, Rene Lalique & Cie., Paris. 122 plates showing over 1500 glass objects. Price List. New introduction and bibliography by John Martin, Deputy Director, Administration, The Corning Museum of Glass.
