A Beautiful Kirdi Kapsiki Antique Bronze Bracelet Old African Currency Primitive Money Cameroon A Beautiful Kirdi Kapsiki Bronze Wrist Cuff Bracelet, Engraved Designs Antique Tribal Jewelry - OLD African Currency, Primitive Money - Cameroon Collected from the: Kapsiki peoples of the Kirdi in the Mandara Mountains of Cameroon, West Africa Material: Bronze, old lost wax casting of copper/tin alloy Period: 19th century, conservatively Dimensions: 3.75" height, 3.25" outermost diameter at center ridge, 2.75" opening diameter; weight is 9.4 ounces Condition: Good. Held in a vaulted private collection since the late 1940's, the condition of this piece remains unchanged from the time of its original acquisition. Exquisite signs of age, wear and extensive tribal use, all dings and scuffs present significant patination. Back displays slight separation of metal from wear as detailed in last photo below. Gorgeous dark chocolate patina, beautifully accentuated with generous brassy highlights, traces of verdigris and soil fragments all indicative of previous burial. Notes: Glar's extensive work on the Kapsiki presents an almost identical piece from his personal collection. Originally worn as a display of wealth, also used to store or cache wealth, and as currency in various transactions. This particular style has become increasingly more difficult to locate during the last decade. Please to fully appreciate this beautiful old bracelet!
