An Exquisite Old Kerewe Female Ancestor Figure Funerary Statue

Material: Hardwood, glass eyes, wood stand
Period: Very early 20th century
Dimensions: 23.75" height, 4" width, 3.5" depth on 5.25" square base
Weight: 3.25 pound figure, 5.00 total with stand
Condition: Excellent - exquisite signs of age, wear from tribal use, age cracks test stable, weat d surface condition indicative of great age and natural erosion from exposure to elements and earth. No indication of the standard 'rapid aging' methods so typically used on the so called tourist reproductions as in commonly found in the 'airport art' of other regions. Age cracks test stable, age and weathering combined to create gorgeous coloring. Outer portion of right forearm was lost to time, exposed wood is well patinated. Form and surface condition are appropriate for the period - an altogether spectacular specimen !
