Description:
Kathryn Amanda and her Cabbage Patch Twin were born on November 1. They both dressed in a red and white suites and white boots. The dolls are in its original box. The box measures 18-1/2 by 18 by 9-1/2 inches. The whole set weighs around 3.1 pounds.
It seems that the dolls were played with, but the box and the dolls are in very nice condition.
The box has some tears and wears. The cellophane is a bit off on the bottom and the top of the box. The cellophane itself has spots. All that you can see in the pictures.
Included are the birth certificates for both dolls. The birth certificate for Kathryn Amanda is not attached to the box. The birth certificate for her twin is attached to the box and is in such position that we can not see the name on it.
Here is some history on how the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls started. In 1976, Xavier Roberts invented 'Little Person' dolls, the first Cabbage Patch Kids.
Roberts was a teenager when he started the Babyland General Hospital in Cleveland, Georgia, where people could adopt a baby (the hand sewn dolls were never called dolls) complete with adoption papers.
Roberts and five friends started the Original Appalachian Artworks company to produce the dolls. The Coleco toy company liked Roberts' ideas and began mass-marketing the dolls in 1983, under the new name of 'Cabbage Patch Kids.'
The children that coveted Cabbage Patch dolls in the early 1980s move into their 30s, which is prime collecting time for toys of youth.
Even though millions and millions of vintage Cabbage Patch dolls were produced, high prices are paid by collectors for them today.
This is a timeless doll and sure bring a lot of joy to your child or it would be a wonderful addition to your fabulous collection of Cabbage Patch Kids dolls!
