Description:
An openwork reticulated silver and glass heart shaped dish. Made in Germany late 19th - very early 20th century (pre World War II).
Jugendstil / German Art Nouveau, highly reminiscent of the work of Joseph Hoffman at the Wiener Werkstatte.
Measures just under 1 1/4 inches high; 6 1/2 inches accross widest part and 7 inches front to back. Handle is 2 inches high.
Stands on 4 ball feet. Bottom of sides is solid silver, from half way up, reticulated open pattern of flowers - great detail and workmanship. A larger version of the flowers forms a handle / thumbpiece. Frosted heart-shaped glass insert.
Engraved signature and silver marks underneath: Crown and crescent moon for Imperial German silver, 800 German silver standard and a hallmark for the maker.
Very good condition.
