Description: This beautiful stein was designed by one of the most famous Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau) designer - Franz Ringer. His designs are the most collectable among the beer stein and Jugendstil collectors. The decorations were hand-painted over transferred outline with deep shadows and raised enamel details. The front picture shows a soldier in Biedermeier period uniform drinking from a beer stein presented to him by a young lady. The Biedermeier period (1810 - 1840) theme was a very popular theme during 1910s - it was a nostalgic reminiscence of a Golden Time. The inscription on the sides reads: "O! Schoene Zeit! O! se el'ge Zeit! Wie bist du fern, wie bist du weit". - "Oh, good times! Oh, holy times! You are far away and long apart". The decorations are signed with F.Ringer's famous signature - "FR".
