Description:
This beer stein was manufactured by Reinhold Merkelbach - the most famous manufacturer of Jugendstil beer steins and other ceramics. The artists who worked for R.Merkelbach included R.Riemerschmid, P.Wynand and other famous designers and art professors of Art Nouveau/Jugendstil era. This stein is quite famous - it is featured in many books on Jugendstil ceramics and carried by many museums. Designed by Paul Wynand this stein is made of stoneware and glazed with "Koelnisch braun" glaze - a very special glaze technique used exclusively by R.Merkelbach designers. The lid is pewter designed specifically for this stein. The stein is in excellent condition. There is not a single flaw, the lid is sitting tight - a perfect collector's item. The stein is marked with "R.Merkelbach Grenzhausen" mark from the period of 1903 - 1910s and 2110 model number. It is 6" tall, 0.5L capacity.
