Studies for "The Plasterers" (1967)

"The Plasterers" was last shown at the exhibition entitled "John Koch...Painting a New York Life", held at the New York Historical Society in Manhattan in 2001. Images of the exhibition catalogue are shown below. Our client purchased The Plasterers from Koch shortly after it was completed in 1967 and these sketches were given to her shortly thereafter.
Studies for "Night" (1964)

The first drawing listed above is a very early study showing a television on stand with subject in the background. The other is a late study that bears close resemblence to the final painting. The rear of this sketch has the artist's stamp in blue ink and the hand-written words "study for night". "Night" was last exhibited at the exhibition entitled "John Koch...Painting a New York Life", held at the New York Historical Society in Manhattan in 2001. Our client purchased the painting Night from Koch shortly after it was completed in 1964 and these sketches were given to her by the artist shortly thereafter.
Study for "Telephone Call" (1964)

This is an original pencil sketch study the 1964 oil painting on canvas entitled "Telephone Call". Signed "Koch" in the lower right corner. Please see below for a black and white image of Telephone Call taken from the brochure of his solo exhibition at The New York Cultural Center (in association with Fairleigh Dickinson University) in New York City in 1973. Our client purchased the painting Telephone Call from Koch shortly after it was completed in 1964 and this sketch was given to her by the artist in the late 1960s.
