John S Churchill & Winston Churchill 2 Signed Letters
Description: Two typed letters on paper, framed together (no glass). Each signed. 1) From John Spencer Churchill to Mr. Samuel S. Himmell dated 10th January, 1961. Text: "Dear Mr. Himmell,/Thank you so much for your kind letter of the 29th December 1960 and for the most acceptable Christmas present which accompanied it./It was indeed a pleasure to be able to let you have my Uncle's autograph and I am very glad you are pleased with it./I hope to be in New York in the fall of this year for a lecture tour about the Arts over the States, and will be sure to get in touch with you then./Yours sincerely, [signed] John S. Churchill".

2) From Winston S. Churchill to Major John Churchill dated 2 February, 1951. Text: Dear Johnny,/Thank you so much for your letter of January 26, and for the coloured photograph of the lily which I am indeed glad to have./I hope all is well with you. I had a very pleasant holiday in Marrakech and painted a number of pictures which I think you would like. [Signed] [?] Winston Churchill". Dimensions: Paper size (each approx.): 8 3/4 x 7in. Frame size: 12 3/4 x 18 1/2in. Weight: 1lb. (Box F) Condition: Each letter attached to matte by paper tape verso. Darkening and yellowing to each, especially #2. Heavy creasing to both due to vertical and horizontal folds. 1) One small 1/4in. tear to paper 1in. from upper edge and 1 1/4in. from left edge. One small 1/4in. scrape to paper surface at left edge 3 3/4in. from lower edge. Soft rippling and creasing to paper throughout. 2) One heavy 2 1/2in. crease to paper 1 1/2in. from upper edge and 1 1/4in. from right edge. Several soft creases and rippling to paper throughout. Heavy darkening, especially at edges. Artist's Biography:
John Spencer Churchill (1909-1992), nephew of Sir Winston Churchill.

Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill (30 November 1874  24 January 1965) was a British statesman, best known as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the Second World War.
