The Blue Garland Pattern on the piece is a lovely design of powder blue florals with a metallic silver piping. The Gravy Boat has an attached plate with a lovely scalloped rim underneath it. The top rim of the gravy boat measures 9 inches across from the handle to the spout. The under plate measures 9 5/8 inches wide and 5 5/8 inches long. The Gravy Boat is 3 ½ inches high. The bottom is marked Johann Haviland, Bavaria Germany.
John Haviland formed the Johann Haviland Company in 1907 in Waldershof, Germany. In 1924, Johann Haviland was sold to Richard-Ginori and the companys name was changed to Porzellanfabrik Waldershof AG. Rosenthal China of Germany purchased the Waldersof factory in 1937 and began producing fine china for export to the United States. This dinnerware was marked Johann Haviland and Bavaria, Germany. This china was made until the late 1980s. This Gravy Boat is an estate piece and is in excellent condition. There are no chips or cracking at all.
