Description: Vintage 7 1/4" wide cardboard sign advertising Fifty Little Orphans Cigars. This was a fan hanger sign. Fan Hangers were tied to the string of store ceiling fans (before air conditioning) and slowly turned from the breeze of the fan, and so fan hanger signs are always two sided. The reverse says "Smoke the Little Orphan Cigar Best on Earth for 5¢" etc. These were found in an old cigar factory many years ago and are a nice early advertising cigar sign. Circa 1890. All that were ever found have what looks like light scuffs on the reverse (it is actually light ink bleed through from the front). These are something else. They have an orphan in the front holding up a cigar. These days if they produced advertising with a bunch of orphans selling cigars there would be a public outcry.
