Description: A very fine Japanese silver thread embroidery of a coiled 3-toed dragon, ca.1900. The silver thread is actually heavy twisted silk thread that is 'wrapped' in thin silver strips. You can see this upon close examination with the naked eye. The thread is then stitched on top of a padded backing in the desired design. In this case a coiled fiery 3-toe dragon. The detailing is magnificant! The silver wire dragon is stitched to an ivory colored , padded silk backing. The embroidery is nicely framed (see enlargements). The framed embroidery is 22.75 wide by 20.75 tall. Condition Consensus: Very Fine condition without any injury or repair.
