Description:
Japanese gilt lacquer on wood document box, with an overlapping lid. The top is decorated with gold maki-e (sprinkled-gilt design)with metal fittings and ring loops. The top features gilt raised cranes flying over gold raised pine trees. the bottom has gold raised trees with the metal fittings and ring loops. The interior of the box is decorated throughout with gold flakes in a translucent, amber-colored lacquer. The size is 10-3/8" Long x 3-3/8" High x 4" Deep; weighs 1 lb. The box is in good overall condition, with the exception of a chip on the bottom of the overlapping lid, and a small indent spot on the top of the lid. Also has some minor wear from age and there was some minor restoration on two corners of the bottom piece. The box looks darker, richer and has much better appearance in person than in digital photos.
