Description: Japanese cloisonne teapot, creamer and sugar bowl set, late 19th century. The teapot is 5" high (7" with swing handle extended) and 5" wide. The creamer is 4.5" high, and 5" wide to the end of the long spout. The sugar bowl is 4.375" high and 5.25" wide. All pieces have a floral and butterfly mon design on a black background with coiled wires and a few goldstone specks. The finials on the teapot and sugar bowl are tight with no enamel loss at the insert points. The teapot has some very minor stress lines on the vertical projections that support the swing handles, as made. The sugar bowl lid has two no-harm natural bends to the metal ring that projects into the base. A beautiful, pristine set.
