Description:
Ivory & Silver Cuff Bracelet. This hand carved elephant ivory and silver bracelet is highly detailed both on the ivory and the silver. The hinge and clasp are decorated with flowers and birds made of silver witch I think it is sterling silver but is not marked. The ivory is very thick and clearly has the Retzius lines which are unique to elephant ivory. The inside has a nice aged patina and every inch of the outside is carved. The design however is VERY erotic. There are four panels with different scenes in each panel. If you would like closeup pictures of these panels email me. I have not included a closeup in this description so as to not offend anyone. Even though the subject matter is not what one would like to see on such a gorgeous piece the carving is outstanding art work. This bracelet is from a local estate and is believed to have been purchased in India in the late 1920's or early 1930's and long before the ban on ivory. I have worn this bracelet and received many compliments on it. It is gorgeous.
