Description:
Offering this super nice set of vintage Irwin auger bits in a very nice heavy duty canvas tool roll! This type of roll is very rare, as it is super well made, and about the best way to protect your auger bits while traveling from job to job. The auger bits are all marked "IRWIN" and all are sharp and ready to use condition, no rust or damage, very little wear noted, a few have been sharpened over the years, very well maintained. All the Irwin bits are in different sizes, all in 16ths graduations from 4/16 to 16/16 which is 1.0" diameter. Also included is a very nice expansive bit marked "STANLEY MADE IN U.S.A. NO. 129". It is also in very good repair, sharp, ready to use, and comes with two adjustable inserts, giving it a capacity to drill holes from about 1" to 3" diameter. Each insert has inch graduations on it, so you can set the size you desire without measuring. Like the Irwin bits, the spurs and the lead screw is in very good working order, no rust, no damage. The larger insert has some minor pitting noted, but the cutting edge area is in very good condition. As mentioned, this is about the best heavy duty roll style we have seen to date! It is very well stitched, with each pocket sized closely for the size bit that should fit into it, plus it is extra large, with extra stitching that allows a space for each auger bit to fit into when rolling them up together, sort of a gear fit type of arrangement, very well engineered. There is also a little pocket to keep the expansive bit attachments in, and it has it's own flap, much like the flap that covers the auger bits. We were able to wash the roll, and remove most of the dirt and oil that was on it. It has some wear, but no holes, a few small paint stains, and a few black or darkened wear marks on the exterior near the heavy duty strap, and clasp area mostly. The strap is brass tipped, and there latch is in working order, very good quality, works great. One of the nicest irwin sets we have had to offer in a roll! Beyond a doubt, the nicest design of tool roll we have seen in the past 10 years of tool sales! The roll is about 33" long when fully opened, and about 4" in diameter x 12" long when in the rolled up position with all the auger bits inside it. A very nice set overall!
