Description:
What a fantastic chair! This unique form is referred to as a Savonarola or Curule chair and was originally an Italian styling. There is a wonderful label on the back, which reads Hall, Headington and Co. Carpets and Furniture, Baltimore. The chair design allows you to lift and remove the back, whereby it can be folded. The ebonized chair has extensive inlay with what appears to be ivory. The inlaid design on the back is of maidens with beautifully scribed detailing. Their facial, hair and other features are finely and realistically executed. The tops and sides of the arms and all the slats display additional inlay. There is only very minor loss of the inlay and barley worth mentioning. The finish is original and in excellent condition. The frame is tight with no breaks or repairs. This chair is of great quality and would make a statement in any room.
