Description: Made by Indiana Glass Company in the 1950's this rather large compote measures 7 3/4" tall X 7 1/2" width across the bowl with a base diameter of 4 1/2" and has a stem of 2 1/2" tall. It is very heavy for it's size. The rim of the bowl is scalloped with the center of each scallop along the outside rim are emblossed a single teardrop design. The 2 1/2" stem is accented with (8) vertical panelled sections and the teardrop design on each panel. The flared stem graduates down to a (8) panel section approx. 2 1/2" wide over the round smooth base plate. This all adds a lot of dimension to the compote. This compote was made in two sizes this being the larger size. It weighs approx. 2 3/4#. In very good ++++ to excellent condition, no chips, cracks, or nicks. It appears as though used very little. This compote is very understated and elegant. If you collect teardrop decorated pieces and you don't have this one it is a must! The compote is not cloudy as it appears in the pics. nor is it crooked but I could not seem to stay standing straight when I shot it!
