Description:
This possibles bag was made by Ivan Jackson, also known as "Modoc" Jackson. Ivan is well known for his endeavors to keep the Klamath-Modoc culture alive. He makes boats, decoys, bags, spears, arrows and other items in the traditional way. This possibles bag is made of elk skin. In some tribes it is called a kinnickinnick bag because it was used to carry tobacco and other things. I was intrigued by his design. He explained that he flattens the porcupine quills between his teeth. He assured me that he uses natural dyes. The glass beads on the ties are not old. the bag is about 24 inches from top of ties to the bottom of the fringe. It is about 8 inches wide at the bottom widest point.
