Description:
This is an absolutely amazing piece of tramp art/folk art! Made entirely of matchsticks, it is a masterpiece of ingenuity. There are no matchsticks missing or broken in the entire piece. It is in perfect condition. There is one drawer at the top, two drawers beneath that which conceal secret compartments behind them, and then two drawers at the bottom. On each side there is a pull-out which reveals the hidden compartments behind the two drawers. The box is completely covered on all six sides with a geometric pattern done in matchsticks. There are four areas on the top of the box that are black and I'm not sure what material has been used. It looks like it could be tar paper, but it is covered in shellac and so we can't determine what the material is. There is also small black gravel used to decorate the drawer fronts, the sides, the top and the pull-outs. The drawer pulls are shaped like pyramids. The feet on the bottom are rectangle. I have tried to show as much of the detail as possible, but can only upload four pictures. I will gladly send additional pictures on request.
