Description:
The knives of this fine set of flatware for twelve persons have plain hallmarked sterling silver sabre style blades with hallmarked sterling silver ferrules. The Three-pronged hallmarked sterling silver forks also have hallmarked sterling silver ferrules. Each piece is fitted with a carved ivory, pistol-grip style handle. The service is fitted to its original hinged oak box with lift out tray. The box has brass fittings, including a vacant shield shaped cartouche to the centre of the cover. The box is velvet and satin lined. The knife blades and fork times of this impressive service are an extremely good gauge of silver. The service is fine quality and in excellent condition. Hallmarks struck to each piece are very clear. Apart from a very slight bow to the cover, the box is in excellent condition. Reflections in photography may detract from the true representation of these items. Length of knife 22cm/8.8", Length of blade 12cm/4.8", Length of fork 19cm/7.6", Length of blade 9.5cm/3.8".
