Description: A handsome continental pedestal desk dating from the late 1800's in beautiful figured mahogany. This desk has panelled cupboards to both pedestals each with a removable central shelf made from oak. There are three oak lined drawers to the freize each with hand-cut dovetail joints and mouldings. Each drawer and cupboard has the original substantial brass lever locks with a working key. The top, pedestals and plinths all have canted corners and the sides are wonderfully panelled and polished. The leather writing surface is an embossed green hide set into the moulded edge top. This desk has unusually generous dimensions giiving an impressive overall appearance.DIMENSIONSWidth = 66" (166cm).
