Description: RARE ELEGANT VICTORIAN MAHOGANY DRESSING TABLE Attributed to J & J W Meeks, NYC, circa 1840's Beautiful beveled mirror with ripple molding frame and nicely done scroll and egg crest supported by block and twist pedestals adorned with finials above a marble top fitted one drawer ripple molding base rasied on nicely done barley twist legs joined by a barley twist stretcher ending in scroll feet. Magnificent Mahogany Dressing table with a restored finish, later beveled mirror, original marble top and tassel adorned Key for the working lock. All these exceptional details leads us straight to the superior workshop of J & J W Meeks, one of the finest and most collectible makers from this period. We have recently learned that a near identical dressing table is in the New York City Museum and is labled J JW Meeks. You can contact the Museum for a picture.
