Description:
We offer a truly magnificent extremely heavy Imperial Russian rough silver cigarette case. This type of silver is known as Samorodok. It is huge being 4.35 inches high and 3.5 inches wide and it weighs approximately 1/2 pound.It also has a gold initialed plaque.
It is marked with the initials of the maker JL who is a "unknown master" but dates from around 1875 in Postnikova. Surprisingly, contemporary silver marks have not been found. Rather, the case carries later silver marks that date from the Communist reriod of Russia with marks indicating 0.875 standard.
To the front there are gold initials. The opening button is a deep red ruby color stone.
