Description:
By the time that the 1920's rolled around the watch companies were looking for ways to make a thinner, smaller, more efficient watch. The twelve size, open face watch, was the result. Every watch company that was in business produced a twelve size to compete in a market that was looking for something smaller to wear. This was the time that most of the companies made a move to metal dials that had painted surfaces. They were cheaper to manufacture and they weren't prone to cracks if the watch was dropped. Illinois made one great twelve size and took the time and care required to make one that was superior to most of the watches in the market. Take a look at the 'Zoom In' photos and notice the ends of the blued steel hands. They are a trefoil shape, including the second hand, that look wonderful. These were more expensive to make but this is an indication of going that extra mile to make a superior watch. Even the seconds bit was sunk, a feature you rarely see on other metal dials. The case is yellow gold filled and has a fancy star-like shape on the back with three initials in the center. The bezel also has a great design that is not only attractive but functional for gripping it better. The movement is running like new and exhibits a very nice seventeen jewel movemnt. Don't forget all of our timepieces come with a full one year warranty for parts and labor!
