One of the many books from the Estate of Francis P. Fretwell that we will be selling. The library is the largest privately owned collection of dog books in the world. Mr. Fretwell was the owner of Monfret Kennels, which bred champion standard poodles. He was former president and governor of the Poodle Club of America, and the Italian Greyhound Club of America. He also served as a delegate to the American Kennel Club for decades. His wonderful collection of books has been carefully maintained. *** Hunting Lore: Shocks for Fox and Field. By Crascredo & The Wag. London: Country Life Ltd., 1928. 1st ed. 4to., 244p., red cloth with black lettering, tan cloth spine, illustrated endpapers, extensively illustrated throughout in b&w. Stories of fox hunting, with the illustrations being more of people, horses and fox than of hounds. Spine has darkened. Bottom board's front tip is abraded. Mr. Fretwell's bp on front fixed endpaper. Interior with light age- toning, otherwise clean. VG condition.
