Description: This delicate folk art embroidered silk vest from the Hungarian town of Sioagard displays polychrome floral embroidery on a pink silk ground in a style recalling Chinese floral motifs. The vest is trimmed with silver galloon and bands of polychrome floral embroidered silk ribbon. Lined in ecru linen, it is joined at the inside front by a pink silk ribbon. A marvelous combination of craft and poetry. Period: 1920s Size: 15.5" from armpit to armpit, 15" from shoulder to bottom. It was probably worn by a child.
