Description:
This figure is "Chimney Sweep", and has that title on a label on the left side of its base. It shows a young boy in a black chimney sweep outfit, with a ladder, rope, and sweeping tools.The base has the two-line mark of the Goebel company of West Germany, printed over the glaze. It is hand-painted and has the painter's signature and the date it was finished, 1983. Other marks include the mold number, #12I. The height is 5 1/2 inches, the base is 2 1/2 inches, and it weighs 5 ounces. Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel's artwork has been an inspiration to many since World War II, when it came to the attention of porecelain maker Franz Goebel. The W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik company continues to produce figures based on her paintings and drawings from Rodental, West Germany. This item was purchased by Tom's from a Hartford area estate.
