Description:
Hugo's solid silver clock - inkwell. France. 1840-1879
2 kilos of silver without the movement.
This is a fantastic found. This is a rare and sublime French clock - inkwell totally made of solid silver. The clock is in perfect operating condition and strikes every hour and half hour. The set is obviously intended to decorate the desk of a stately house or a major business or lawyer firm. It's complete. The top is a bell used to call the domestic personnel. The clock is hallmarked everywhere. I just photographed a few hallmarks. They are hallmarks for French export silver . The base has the hallmark of the French silversmith Emile Hugo. The clock measures 45 cm in height x 43 cm wide x 25 cm deep. (17.7 inches in height x 16.9 cm wide x 9.8 cm deep). The clock weighs just over 2 kilos of silver without movement.
I will be glad to answer any question.
