Upcott Gill, n.d., circa 1888. 8vo., 132 pp. plus section of publisher's advertising bound in at back, original dark green cloth with gilt lettering and black illustration on cover, decorative endpapers, color illustrated frontispiece plus two additional full-page black-and-white engravings.
Early volume on the St. Bernard. Chapters include "Origin and History", "The St. Bernard in England", "Points, Measurements, Pedigrees, &c.", "Breeding", and "Rearing Puppies". Author also wrote "British Dogs", "The Diseases of Dogs", and etc.
Cloth has some rubbed edge wear and there is minor board exposure at front tips. Head and tail of spine have light wear. Spine has a slight angle. Prior owner's name, address and date on front free endpaper. Some offsetting on title page. Fore-edges with some foxing. Clean interior. In Very Good condition.
