Hello and welcome to "A Displaced Victorian Antiques and Collectables". For your consideration is a RARE, HARD-TO-FIND TIFFIN KING'S CROWN THUMBPRINT PUNCH BOWL SET. . In the coming weeks I will be listing a wide variety of wonderful items that I obtained from the estate sale of a retired jeweler and his wife. They traveled the world and returned home with some really fabulous items. Here we have a fabulous Tiffin King's Crown Thumbprint punch bowl set. I understand that these are fairly hard-to-find. The huge set (you could serve punch for 50 people!) includes the bowl, underplate and 11 cups. I believe that the set came with 12 cups, so one has been lost along the way. I have taken photographs of each of the items separately and together. Because there is a star design in the center, this set is the earlier Tiffin as compared to Indiana Glass items which are plain. There are no cracks or chips on any of the pieces. The ruby flashing on the plate and the cups is nice and deep and without loss. There is some fading to the flashing on one area of the bowl and I have included a photograph of that. There are also the characteristic tiny bubbles seen several times throughout the glass. Some faint scratches exist on the area of the underplate where the bowl sits. This wonderful set is pictured on page 120 of the Sixth Edition, Collectible Glassware from the 40's, 50's and 60's (2002) by Gene Florence. The book value at that time for the entire set was $1,000.00. In doing research the only set I could find sold on eBay in 12/06 for $1,200.00 for the bowl and cups and $400.00 for the underplate. The seller listed them separately. Please keep in mind that this is a very heavy item and I think it best if the underplate was shipped separately from the bowl. Safe shipping will require oversized, double-boxing which can add to shipping costs. I will ship whichever is the least expensive of USPS, UPS or Fedex. I will NOT ship this Internationally.
