Description: This wonderful children's ceramic breakfast set from the 1950's features TV's most favorite little boy Howdy Doody. The Howdy Doody Show first aired on television on December 27th,1947. The man that brought the little puppet to life was Buffalo Bob Smith who created a town called Doodyville that included such characters as: The mean-spirited mayor of Doodyville, Phineas T. Bluster, Bluster's jittery, not-so-bright, carpenter sidekick, Dilly Dally, My pet, Flub-a-Dub ( a creature made from the parts of eight different animals), Princess Summerfall Winterspring of the Tinka Tonka Tribe (later played by a live actress), my sister, Heidi Doody, Inspector John J. Fadoozle, Captain Windy Scuttlebutt, Hector Hamhock Bluster, Don Jose Bluster, and Sandra Witch. The show was brought to life by the Peanut Gallery, a sideline full of benches where the children sat. I believe he was the most beloved friend we kids had back then and waited anxiously on our black and white TV'S to watch! The bowl is in very good plus condition and has Howdy on the inside bottom with 4 of his favorite friends like Clarabell The Clown on the outside and it measures 1 7/8 inches high and 5 1/2 inches across the rim. The cup has Howdy Doody written in large red letters with Howdy on one side and Princess Summerfall Winterspring on the other. It is in good condition having a stress age crack at the bottom of the handle, which I have shown in my pictures, and it measures 2 7/8 inches high and 3 1/8 inches across the rim. A wonderful addition to any Howdy Doody or TV Character Collection.
