Description:
This solid mahogany china cabinet was made by R. J. Horner and Company of NY City. It retains its original label. They were an outstanding manufacturer in the 1880's thru the early 1900's and were known for highly carved furniture. We have the matching sideboard that we are selling separately. The china cabinet has a serpentine shaped cornice on the front and curved sides with delicate egg and dart carvings. Further down on the cornice are carved acanthus leaves. Check out the carved capitols with reeded and fluted columns. The curved glass door has its original brass hardware, lock and key. Inside are 4 thick plate glass shelves. Check out the very unique plate holders. There are brass rods that attach to each shelf to support standing plates. The china cabinet has a full mirrored back. It has deeply curved glass sides and rests on intricately carved paw feet. The cabinet rests on its original castors. The finish is original and in excellent condition. The glass is also original and in excellent condition.
