The Homer Laughlin China Company has produced numerous lines of kitchenware beyond their well-known Fiestaware line. First listed on company records in 1936, Harlequin was not actively introduced for public sale until 1938.
Harlequin dinnerware was sold without trademark through the F.W. Woolworth Company exclusively. Over the years, the colors of the line grew to include all of Fiestaware's colors, except for ivory and dark blue. Harlequin green was a spruce green. Yellow was a lighter and brighter tint than Fiesta yellow, and the blue was a more mauve shade.
In the 1940's, Homer Laughlin begam promoting the line more heavily. The new colors were red (called tangerine by the company), rose, turquoise and light green.
Harlequin proved very popular and sold all through the 1950s. Official records indicate the line was discontinued in 1964.
This lot is in very good to excellent condition, with 1 tiny chip on the edge of the yellow Bowl.
