Description:
Holiday Magazine March 1950 issue gives all the facts about the Missouri River and the history of the lands it flows through. There is the story of the pioneers, the farmers of th 1930 dustbowl, and the constant threat of flood. Another article focuses on Kansas City past and in 1950. There is a great amount of detail and photos of the notorious Thomas J.Pendergast, the boss of K.C. in the early 1900's. Phillips Andover Academy in Andover Massachusetts is described as a town dedicated to patriotism, fine education, and citizenship. It is isolated and intellectual at the same time and could "belong to any of the last 3 centuries",as quoted here. In another piece there is interesting history of spices, trade routes, and the value placed upon this commodity. The great performers of the Palace Theatre are featured in an article about this NYC showplace. This magazine is in fine condition with minor signs of aging or yellowing.
