THE HOCHMAN ENCYCLOPEDIA of American Playing Cards was published in October 2000 along with a complementary Price Guide--as an aid to collectors, researcher, and individuals. with an interest in old or unusual American Playing Cards.

After publication of the Encyclopedia, the authors received contributions from collectors including information about decks not previously included in the first. printing. Additionally, the marketplace has influenced the prices of old playing cards, in many cases quite significantly. The second section of this Supplement and Price Guide is a complete revision of prices for over 1,600 American playing card decks published from the late 1700s to the early 1930s. Decks featured include both standard cards, those designed for every day use, as well as non-standard decks designed for a variety of commemorative and utilitarian purposes.
