Description: A handsome example of early ironstone, or English stoneware, this piece bears the blue underglaze mark of Hicks, Meigh and Johnson who used this mark from 1822-36. The striking brick red/orange and deep blue floral pattern, highlighted with gold was evidently just known as pattern #13 (see the reverse mark). It measures 19" long, 15" wide, and is 2" high at the edge. There is normal rubbing to the gold and some wear to the pattern from normal use. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. An English William IV era piece.
